Meerut. Children are the future of our country. In India, it is celebrated on 14 November every year. Every child love to celebrate this occasion. Children’s day (Children’s Day 2020) is celebrated to increase the emphasis on the importance of giving love, care, attention and affection towards children. Children’s Day also creates awareness for their rights.

Before the death of India’s honourable First Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, we used to celebrate Children’s Day on 20 November every year. But, after his death, with an intention of giving a tribute to him India started celebrating Children’s Day on 14 November which is his birth anniversary.

Not only India but many other countries also celebrate Children’s day. US celebrate it on the second Sunday of June and Australia celebrates it on 4 August every year.

Why Children’s Day 2020 is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru?

Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru was very fond of children. He loved to spend time with them. He was very famous among children as Chacha Nehru. Nehru believes that children are the strength and building block of any nation. Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru once said “The children of today will make the India of Tomorrow”. So, in order to give a tribute to his dedication and love for the children and the nation, Children’s Day (Children’s Day 2020) is celebrated on his birth anniversary.
